ANNOUNCEMENT: Interesting Things in the Works!

I have a small announcement to make and I think you’ll like it!

I’ve been running Clix Fix for almost 3 months now and boy has it gotten recognition! Once I added my poll back in September about what people wanted to see, it seemed to spike the numbers a bit. Although I really wanted to write about fun team ideas and whatnot, I couldn’t help but listen to the dozens of people that voted for a more competitive direction for the blog.

My first big article was my Meta Talk: State of the current Meta Game piece. That garnered more views and unique IP address visits than anything other piece I’ve done, and it didn’t stop there. Each article I wrote that addressed the competitive scene directly and broke things down has gotten big hits, so I’ve done my best to keep that flow going while still staying true to the first intentions of the blog.

It wasn’t until the Meta Talk – ROC World Cup 2016 Results and Musings article went up that I got real recognition. Patrick Yapjoco, the World Champion and owner of Majestix Games/Apex Insiders read the piece and commented that it was his favorite Heroclix blog around, and asked if I was interested in writing for Apex Insiders. If you aren’t familiar with Apex, it’s THE premier competitive Heroclix website, with information about pieces, teams, maps, meta-changes, etc., kind of like Clix Fix but with tournament winners and professional players writing for them. I jumped at the chance.

After some communication with Patrick and an idea of what he wanted, he gave me a topic and off I went. I was so excited that I wrote the article right then and there as soon as I had the prompt. So, without further ado, the announcement:

What does this mean? Well, Patrick stated that his intent is to bring me on as a full-fledged writer for the site, but we need to run a test article first. Assuming all goes well, this will be a permanent thing (as permanent as these things can be anyway) and I will be one of the regular writers for the site!

As you can imagine, I’m extremely excited and flattered by all of this. I started playing Heroclix again just over a year ago, and I never imagined that I would understand the competitive scene like I do, and I surely never imagined I would actually be writing pieces for the World Champion and one of the biggest names in the game, and I have all of you to thank for that. Your reading, sharing, commenting, and requests/suggestions got me here and I can’t thank you enough for that. You’ve helped turn this fun little blog into something real. If you’re reading this right now, you’re part of all this!

So what does this mean for Clix Fix? Is it going to stop? Will I get someone else to take it over? Absolutely not! Clix Fix started as a fun place for me to discuss Heroclix and not bog down social sites with ramblings, and I intend to keep it that way. It’s a gateway for newer players to learn strategies and team building fundamentals, or pry into the competitive scene and see what’s happening. I feel as though it’s an important resource out there. If this does become a permanent thing with Apex Insiders, I don’t know what the frequency will be that I write for them. Based on that information, I may have to change my schedule up a bit and you might not see as many articles here as you do now. I will always link them though and make an announcement that a new article is live so you guys know and can get your Clix Fix in other ways!
